Staying Fit During the Holidays!

Most of us probably won’t looking to lose weight between now and New Year’s Day, but I think we can maintain our weight, stay healthy, and feel great all while enjoying our favorite holiday foods. Here are my 5 secrets to help you avoid holiday weight gain. Cheers!

1) Get Moving! Walk on the treadmill during your favorite show, park further away at the store, take the stairs, hit the gym, whatever you do this holiday season, STAY ACTIVE!

2) Avoid Empty Liquid Calories. Eggnog martinis, peppermint lattes and hot chocolate all sound delicious but have no nutritional value. Opt for hot tea or water with a squirt of Mio if your looking for flavor. If you do drink alcohol, limit yourself to one night per week for a drink or two.

3) Never Go To a Party Hungry. This can be tricky, but if you eat at home you’re less likely to indulge while out. Prepare yourself a nutritious meal filled with protein and veggies before heading to the party.

4) Drink Water! Since water is an appetite suppressant, it will make you feel fuller. Eat when your hungry, drink water when your bored.

5) Get Enough ZZZ’s. Getting 7-8 hours of sleep each night is important in regulating your metabolism, not to mention it keeps you away from late-night snacking.
